Create sample DB with over 1 mln objects.

Hi I have to connect Doors 9.5.1.2 DB with external system, so during development I have to simulate big amount of data that will be near the production Doors DB with over 1 mln objects/requirements. Is there a easy way to do that DXl script or ready samle DB. I need their description to be different ,text and other base attributes. So they can be random numbers for example:

Requirement 23482934

Descritpion: Sample Description 1894234293094.

....

I want to test performance of my code when there are a huge amount of data.

How about something like this?

It creates  x projects at the top level, x folders inside them, and  x modules inside them.

Hello Dinio,

as I understand you want to create a module which has about 1 million requirements. I suggest the following procedure.
- create a new module in DOORS
- create at least 1 object
- if you need additional attribute please create them first
- now go to menu "View" and uncheck "Module Explorer" -> this will improve performance while creating such high number of objects
- now run the attached script

Notes:
- in line 5 of the script you can define the number of objects to be created
- as for now the script will add the value Heading and a consecutively number for "Object Heading" -> this can be adjusted in line 8
- as for now the script will add the value Text and a consecutively number for "Object Text" -> this can be adjusted in line 9
- if you want to add a attribute which you created before using the script please add this line to the script for example after line 9:
new."attribute_name" = "attribute_value " i ""

You can also create a large amounts of sample data by importing a spreadsheet or word document and then duplicating the imported module many times and then duplicate the folder of modules many times.

Break the module into sections before duplicating to increase the load on the test server.

I logged as user with all permissions, and still the error occurs.

Hi Dinio,

it seems you don't have the required access permissions (RMC) on that module to create items.
- open the module and it's properties (File-> Module Properties)
- go to the Access tab
- to create objects you'll need at least RMC access on that module

Hi, I write small script chick can generate

N Projects, N- Formal Modules, N-Objects in very module, with random generated requirements with embedded OLEs in it. File's path is specific and has to be changed. The script has its bugs(can close open modules) but I test it 10+times and works.

To run:

- you have to change the chomski script import as well as resources paths.

For the sentance generation I use Chomski.inc from Tony Goodman sie(Smart DXL).

I will be happy if you improve this script.
